Enterprise Risk Management for ORSA Planning in Insurance Companies

Virtual Workshop

COURSE DETAILS

The Own Risk & Solvency Assessment (ORSA) has quickly evolved from a relatively unknown requirement to an important present-day regulatory reality, one in which an organization’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework plays a large role.

The ORSA requires insurers to articulate their own judgment about risk management and the adequacy of their capital position. This is meant to encourage management to anticipate potential capital needs and to take proactive steps to reduce solvency risks.

Are you equipped to orchestrate cross functional collaboration, which is needed to compile the annual ORSA report? This virtual workshop will arm you with the knowledge and tools necessary to continuously make ORSA a component of your firm’s ERM framework.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

ERM is an integrated forward-looking, process-oriented approach to managing key risks and opportunities in your organization. The primary purpose of ERM in insurance companies is to provide reasonable assurance that your company can achieve its objectives. In other words “enable the business.” By the end of this workshop you will:

  • Draft an ERM governance structure.
  • Outline ERM policies and procedures.
  • Understand the steps for developing risk appetite statements.
  • Develop strategies to embed risk assessments into organizational processes.
  • Create a feedback loop mechanism for risk management effectiveness.
  • Identify mechanisms for assessing current and future risk profile, solvency and liquidity positions.
  • Apply techniques to review the effectiveness of the ERM framework.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This program is suitable for experienced risk professionals who are tasked with identifying and/or managing risks and those who want to gain a better understanding of how an ERM framework impacts the ORSA report process.

RIMS education courses are designed primarily for risk and insurance professionals, but anyone within an organization who wants to learn more about a specific topic of interest is encouraged to attend.
